Leadership Starts with Leading You

“If you're a leader, or desire to become one, you must always be willing, ready, and committed to “go first” - John C. Maxwell

Leadership is all about action, starting with you.

You can talk all day long, but are you leading by example? And, to lead like this, you must first lead yourself.

That can be difficult.

“The hardest person you will ever have to lead is yourself” - John C. Maxwell

You have to be intentional and purpose driven as you lead, starting with how you lead you. What are you showing others with your life and example?

If you can’t follow you, you have a challenge right off the bat.

And… “If you wouldn’t follow yourself, why should anyone else?” - John C. Maxwell

Good Question.

That is why the best leaders lead by example. They are in the trenches with their team or community showing how it is done and listening to others on how to make things better.

“The root of great leadership doesn’t start with anyone else, it starts with you!” - Michael Holland

And when you master that, great things happen, because others see in you what is possible.

“True leadership mastery begins when you FLY (First Lead Yourself).” - Elizabeth McCormick

Without knowing yourself and leading yourself you will always struggle. Be that person you want others to be.

It starts with you!

“You can’t lead people if you can’t lead yourself.” - Isrealmore Ayivor

And part of leadership is letting others learn to lead, pushing them to greater heights not pulling them. If you have to pull them along, you are doing all the work.

Let them feel ownership in what you're doing, just like you would like to feel.

“It’s better to lead from behind and to put others in front.” - Nelson Mandela

This helps those who are being led, to buy into the process... To feel ownership in what you are doing… To see how you want it all to come together.

You actually get more from other people if you don’t take all the glory.

As it says in Matthew 20:16, “So the last shall be first, and the first last.”

Lead and inspire others to be more by your actions, and trust them in the process. You show them how they can help the team and lead others along the way.

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” - John Quincy Adams

This is how you become a great leader. This is how you become a difference-make and a world-changer.

It is a powerful principle used by some of history’s greatest leaders.

“The most powerful leadership tool you have is your own personal example” - John Wooden

So start today by leading yourself the way you want to lead others. Start today to move the needle in a positive direction by showing others how it is done.

Remember, Leadership Starts With Leading You!

It is your choice.
